Is hair loss reversible?

Hair is made of a type of protein known as keratin and it is formed inside the follicles in the dermis or the surface layer of our skin. As the follicles generate new keratin cells, the old ones are pushed out to the surface at the speed of around 15 cm per year.

Stress

Burn or damage by X-ray

Medicines and vitamins

Excessive absorption of vitamin A is also a reason for hair loss.

Lack of certain nutrients

A restrictive diet, eating disorder, or anorexia can temporarily thin out your hair. Lack of protein, vitamins, or certain minerals can also worsen the condition.

Aging

Aging is a natural and the most common cause of stunted hair growth and hair loss.
